Anchoring Social Circular Economy Attitudes in VET

The primary target groups are teachers and students, both in secondary level VET institutions and in higher education. The Secondary target groups are social enterprise and local stakeholders involved in supporting inclusion, e.g. through offering job opportunities, employments, and trading to socially disadvantaged groups. All partners participating in this project are promoting the integration of social circular economy.

The project SCE - VET aims to raise, across all partnership sectors, awareness about environmental and climate-change needs, challenges and potentials. Priority is given to developing VET competences in various sustainability-relevant sectors, focusing on green sectorial skills activities and methodologies, as well as future-oriented MOOC that better meet the needs of students. The project partners will undertake testing of innovative practices to prepare learners, staff and relevant stakeholders to become aware of climate change and also to change the attitudes towards aspects as circular economy and green skills.  Through this project cooperation the partners will enable behavioral changes for attitudes, individual preferences, consumption habits and lifestyles. SCE - VET will develop sustainability competences of educators and education leaders and support the planned approaches of the participating organizations regarding environmental sustainability.

The outcomes connected to the results are:

  • Social Circular Economy Anchoring Review to be used as a guide for schools and organisations how to implement SCE.
  • The Social Circularity Day will showcase examples of how organisations have put social circularity into practice through cross-sectoral collaboration, discuss the challenges and how to overcome them..
  • The mapping SCE integration in society through an enquiry is aiming on the virtually silent social dimension of Circular economy. An outcome is identifying integration levels of SCE and to recognize indicators of social and cultural aspects of CE.
  • Student Attitude Surveys are done twice during the project. VET schools have an active part in raising social awareness about the effects of climate change and about the need to implement actions aimed at redirecting the trend of environmental decline and the necessary social linking. The surveys show what consequences students are focusing on and how attitudes can change or vary during a period of 2 years.
  • The Anchoring Social Circular Economy course (MOOC) meets the needs and expectations of the target groups (students, teachers and social entreprises). The outcomes are innovative approaches to use when working with the target groups.
  • The SCE Network Platform is a tangible result with an expected outcome to offer a modern, dynamic and professional European SCE network environment ready to integrate good practices and new methods including digital capabilities into daily activities.
  • The Social Circular VET Method Canvas is an illustrated canvas that in a visual way will show needs, objectives, activities, results, outcomes and Impacts. Challenges, potentials and financial aspects can be highlighted in a Canvas.
